Client’s Recommendations

For various reasons, my family of four decided to spend a year abroad, from the US, in Barcelona. Getting our visas was a long process and entails a high level of organization. A piece of that process for our non lucrative visa was to include a private insurance, paid for a year, with no deductibles. I was referred to Carlos Blanco Reyes. He made the experience extremely simple, and has continued to help me with insurance questions since we’ve arrived in Barcelona. In addition, and more importantly, Carlos and his team provided us a level of support in our transition to Barcelona that, as non Spanish speakers, we couldn’t have done without. Not only did they schedule our residency appointments for the empadronamiento (these appointments are very difficult to get), they provided us with explicit details and instructions, and they helped us to find our home. There is a lot of money being exchanged, and a lot of Spanish paperwork in the process of finding a home, whether renting or buying. Carlos and his team gave us complete peace of mind, and helped the landlord to understand the issues/timelines with our bank account. I’ve heard Spain is not known for customer service, and have experienced this in other scenarios, but Carlos and Arnoldo were attentive and provided us with the utmost professionalism and support. I would highly recommend them if you’re planning to move to Spain, for both insurance and all of the necessary steps needed to secure a home, bank account, and residency.

My husband and I needed health insurance for our non-lucrative visa application. Carlos Andres Blanco Rey was easy to work with and very responsive to our inquiries during the process. Once in Spain, our new landlord asked that we purchase renter's insurance. Carlos not only quickly provided us with the needed insurance but also reviewed the rental contract for any red flags and to ensure we fully understood the document. Additionally, my husband and I both had spelling errors in our names on our initial T. I. E. cards. Carlos and his team helped us make appointments and navigate the process of correcting the error. We knew very little Spanish when we first arrived and Carlos's profesional assistance was truly invaluable

My name is Emily Hinojosa and I am 22 year old American student. I first fell in love with Madrid in the summer of 2018 when I was studying in a music program in Pozuelo. Being an uprising professional musician, I travel often for different training programs and performances. Right away I could tell that this city was a special place full of vibrant people and incredible culture. It was hard to board my flight back to Michigan when my time had come to an end in Madrid. Luckily, it was not the end. I decided to pursue my education further and work towards getting a masters degree in clarinet performance after receiving my degree from the University of Michigan. I was so inspired by the previous summer that I knew I had to come back to Spain. I was accepted into a masters program with world famous faculty, including a teacher I have only dreamed of studying with. It is a dream come true to be studying at this high level surrounded by outstanding musicians in such a beautiful country. The visa process is not an easy thing to do when entering another country. I was having a terrible time finding insurance just days before my visa appointment. Thankfully, I got in touch with Carlos Andres Blanco Rey.I onyl had four days to get my insurance policy before my appointment. I contacted him on a Friday night with my appointment approaching quickly on the following Tuesday. He worked over the weekend for me to make sure that I would officially have insurance by Monday morning. For me, he was more than an insurance agent. Carlos was there with an instant response to all and any questions I had. I am beyond so pleased with my insurance policy from Adeslas. Shortly after my arrival to Madrid, I became ill. I was able to see a doctor immediately with no waiting period. Everything has gone perfectly smooth. Carlos is very professional and knowledgeable about the insurance requirements for visas. I give Carlos my highest recommendation for anyone looking to have insurance in

FAQ

Recently a reform has been made that affects the legal regime that regulates the entry, free movement and residence of EU citizens in Spain and their families.

As a result of this reform, citizens (even if they belong to the European Union) are required to reside in Spain for a period of over 3 months, as one of the requirements they must meet to contract health insurance and to be able to obtain the residence card.

Community and non-EU citizens who wish to reside in Spain must prove that they have health insurance contracted in Spain or in another country, as long as they provide full coverage in Spain equivalent to that provided by the National Health System. This means that insurance is required where there is no specification of co-payments for any medical act, and without waiting periods, so that from the first moment the insured can be hospitalized for any medical problem that is included in coverage.

Health insurance is required by those from:

  • Any country in the European Union, and abroad (Russia, Canada, USA, Latin America, India, China, etc.)
  •  Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein
  • Not required for students or people who don’t work in Spain

Likewise, the obligation to contract health insurance also applies to those who intend to reside in Spain for more than 3 months:

  •  Spouse or registered domestic partnership
  • Children under 21 years of age (of the community citizen or their spouse or partner)
  • Children over 21 years of age living at home (of the community citizen or their spouse or partner)
  • Elderly family members living at home (of the community citizen or their spouse or partner).

No, it affects all foreigners who want to reside in Spain. What changed in the new regulations is that up to now it was not required to have health insurance for citizens who belonged to the European Union.

At least 12 months from signing-up, although during that time a residence permit will be acquired and a public health card will be obtained.
